Job Description

Healthcare Receptionist

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: £10.35 per hour

Contract: 3 month FTC

Hours: Rota:
Week 1 - Monday 8-4, Tuesday 8-2, Wednesday 8-4, Thursday 8-2, Friday 8-2.
Week 2 - Monday 8-4, Tuesday 12-6, Wednesday 8-4, Thursday 12-6, Friday 12-6.

As a Healthcare Receptionist:

As an experienced receptionist (ideally, within healthcare), you will support the team with all things admin, ensuring to follow health and safety guidelines and provide high quality customer service. As an important part of the team, you will be responsible for completing the duties given to you by your manager, helping to create a well mannered environment in which to work and for our clients patients.


Key responsibilities:
  • Manage the electronic booking system.
  • Book patients in.
  • Follow up patients who failed to attend appointments.
  • Manage patients waiting time expectations.
  • Answer phone call while remaining confidential and professional always.
  • Complete reception duties and update records where needed.
  • Typing letters, reports, patient referrals etc with accurate and appropriate language.
  • Meeting deadlines.
  • Dealing with complaints.
  • Assist GPs with queries relating to patient records.
  • File records.
  • To locate medical records and complete medical/insurance records and reports when needed.
  • Download letters from the Clinical Document Service into patients’ medical files.

The ideal Healthcare Receptionist will be:
  • Previous experience in Reception is highly desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative. 
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Confident in using Microsoft office programs.
