£58,000
Monday to Friday- Core Working Hours
 
Dynamite Recruitment are pleased to be recruiting for our client based in Portsmouth that are looking to recruit two Legal Counsels to join the team at this period of growth.
 
An exciting inhouse opportunity for a Legal Counsel to provide advice on a diverse range of legal matters being supported by the Legal & Compliance team. As Legal Counsel you will report to the General Counsel, by promoting a high quality and cost effective legal function whilst aligning with the company strategy. You will provide legal advice to a wide range of stakeholders, advising on high risk / high value tenders and supplier contracts. You will exercise judgement to advise, collaborate and inform to achieve the most cost-efficient outcome for the business whilst advising on the subsequent risk profile.
You will be a pragmatic thinker, and constructively challenge the business with solution orientated advice. You will be confident to be able to critically question and suggest user friendly solutions daily
to business issues through both legal and commercial advice.
 
Duties will include but not limited to:
  • Assist the General Counsel and support the business in the preparation of a variety of
  • agreements, and to support throughout the life of a contract.
  • Be the data subject expert whilst liaising with the monitoring obligations of the DPO.
  • Provide both legal and mentoring support to both the Paralegal and Junior Legal Counsel.
  • Advising on legal and regulatory obligations, providing training as required.
  • Responsible for your own administration and overseeing the administration of the wider
  • Legal & Compliance function Inbox.
  • Liaise with relevant departments and other necessary parties, including customers, suppliers,
  • and funders, to ensure legal queries are resolved within deadlines, or escalated to the
  • General Counsel.
  • Work with the General Counsel and team to develop and roll out new template
  • agreements, policies and legal procedures and help ensure all legal processes and
  • procedures are being followed and adhered to.
  • Provide general legal advice and support, including research, legislative updates and
  • assistance with compliance matters.
  • To provide formal Compliance support when requested.
 
Skills and Experience
  • Prior experience of working with commercial contracts, ideally including experience of working in-house
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Approachable, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fast learner, good initiative, solutions orientated.
  • Excellent administrative skills and good working knowledge of MS Office and the intranet.
  • Managing both personal workload with limited supervision, whilst overseeing the department workload to ensure deadlines are not missed.
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels across a business and ability to influence others to achieve positive outcomes.

Education/ Qualifications
  • Legal qualification, UK qualified solicitor with a minimum of 4 years’ experience. Other PQEs will be considered depending on experience.
