Customs Specialist (import / export)
Location: Portsmouth
Salary :Up to £40000 dependant on experience
Hours of work : Full time Monday to Friday core working hours – 40 hours per week
Duration: This is a permanent role to start immediately

As a Customs C/ warehouse stock management executive you will be reporting to Operations Managers, as well as working closely with warehouse management and your duties will include:-
- Working within a warehouse and logistics environment – focusing on customs clearance
- Managing the customs documentation for Air Sea and Land freight
- Ensuring that all import and export goods meet legislation and compliance
- Managing tax schemes which will be related to distribution and manufacturing in the Uk and worldwide
- Prepare & submit accurate customs declarations for EU or NON-EU customers
- Verify C88 document details such as the origin and customs codes into CDS
- Work with external warehousing partners and third-party transport providers to effectively manage the relationship and monitor performance to ensure the highest level of accuracy and efficient operating procedures are in place
- Partnering with senior management to assist in planning and managing workflows across the business
- Ensuring all customs clearance documents are obtained for compliance purposes
- Develop and manage a trade compliance reporting process for the business
- Maintain all customs paperwork, insuring the documentation is accurate and complete to ensure smooth operations
- Manage all operations queries regarding import/export
- Understand and double-check manufacturer & commercial invoices
- Partner with third parties, managing the relationship and monitoring performance to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Take ownership in internal and external compliance audits, liaising with partners to ensure compliance is maintained
- Produce weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for the Finance Director, Operations Director and senior leadership team
- Experience of working within a warehoused or logistics environment – managing customs
- Knowledge of multiple warehouse stock management is essential
- Previous expertise in customs warehousing requirements within international FMCG
- Experience working in freight forwarding/import/export
- Attention to detail essential
- Understanding of Customs Commodity Codes
- Customs clearance and external customs audits
- Confident communication skills essential
- Experience with International freight - Air, Sea and Land and their regulations/compliance
- Excellent IT skills and familiar with all standard office software packages
- Will be adaptable to change
- Have strong communication skills
